Wander. Discover. Connect. Truth. Four things that I feel like I need more of in my life. This collection of photos seem to speak to me right now, if I could bottle them all up into a single moment, I think it would be pretty amazing.

I was lucky enough to spend the weekend in Byron Bay for the wedding of two amazing friends, it was so beautiful and such a great weekend I wish we could do it all over again.

Images 1, 2 – Arrived in Byron and headed straight for the beach to relax and catch up on some reading.

Image 3 – Enjoyed breakfast before heading off to meet the bride for hair and makeup

Image 4 – Hair and makeup done! Really loved the braids and soft curls, I wish I could do these things myself.

Images 5, 6 – Progress being made getting the venue pretty, the reception was held around the pool area, the garden area was being setup for games, with the ceremony in another little pocket of the estate.

Images 7, 8  – The ceremony, so perfect. And happy snap with the bride.

Images 9, 10  – Day after, the nice weather didn’t stick around, so some time was spent looking around the cool little boutiques.

Image 11   – Came home to a new toy, part of my Thirteen by 2013 to attend a darkroom class.

Today I’m back to work after spending the last few days in Melbourne, I had such an amazing time there. The first couple of days were cold and very wintery, but luckily the sun came out for the rest of the trip. Much exploring was done, there are so many good things about Melbourne: hidden cafes and laneways full of delicious restaurants, pretty old buildings, great little shops and boutiques, street art and design on every corner.

I can’t wait to visit again, I’d love to check out more of the creative community and design events next time. Do you live in or have you been to Melbourne, are there any little discoveries you’d love to share?

One of the greatest sources of inspiration is the environment around you. I am inviting you to join me in a fun little project using our favourite app Instagram, to take photos of beautiful patterns you find. It can be in your home, office, your backyard, your city – whether it be created by a designer or by mother nature. Simply add the hashtag #thepatternparty to your photos, and they will all appear on the Instagram Pattern Party page! (It can take up to 30 minutes for your image to show up).

You can also follow me on Instagram at thedarlingtree.

Here’s a little inspiration:

Firstly I’d love to thank everyone who left such lovely comments and feedback about the new shop, who helped spread the word, and especially to those who purchased their faves to use on their blogs. Be sure to let me know if you’re using any graphics from August Empress on your blog as I’ve love to see them in use.

I hope you all had an enjoyable weekend. Mine was a lot of fun with getting some more quality beach time before Winter gets closer, reading, eating, and finding some new things for our house.

Images 1, 2, 3 – Quite often it’s gorgeous and sunny when I leave home, but overcast when I arrive at the beach. Still enjoyed some relaxing/reading at Main Beach.

Images 4, 5, 6 – A short walk from this beach is one of kikki.K‘s lovely stores, I picked up a few Organisk pads, and the two cutest books with Inspiration & Love quotes. If you take a look at the patterned floor of the front window display, that will soon be mine to place under the glass top of my office desk, I think it’ll look great!

Images 7, 8, 9 – Headed down to Burleigh Heads to check out The Village Markets, and picked up the lovely green bottle including the peacock feathers, and an adorable little teacup candle and saucer. I did forget to take photos at the markets to share, next time!

Images 10, 11, 12 – Hanging out at the beach in Burleigh Heads with my awesome friend Eirin.

Images 13, 14, 15 – A visit to Ikea means getting my hands on some great typographic fabric to make some small curtains for the horizontal windows in my office. They will be hung on a curtain wire, since curtain rods would be too bulky. That will be my project for next weekend!

I’ve mentioned Emilie de Griottes’ fantastic blog Griottes here previously. While catching up on the blog I was blown away my these amazing images she created for a special feature in a french culinary magazine. These dessert tarts recreate pantone colour swatches using berries, bananas, tomatoes, candies, and other foods. So creative!

Sorry for the lack of posts lately, things are always busy busy busy at The Darling Tree leading up to Christmas! But I absolutely had to share this incredible image with you today. Created by Oneighty Creative, the project was initiated after designers consistently struggled with clients trying to understand the process of building a brand. The result is this amazing visualisation of a physical timeline depicting the branding process. Enjoy and have a wonderful weekend!
