The girl behind the website…

Hello! I’m Jo Klima, and welcome to my own creative home. I make a living working as a freelance graphic and web designer over at The Darling Tree which was established in 2008, but have been working in design since 2004.

Recently I built a beautiful new home with my partner on the Gold Coast, Australia. We have a handsome, slightly oversensitive dog named Mambo. I love tea, live music gigs, travelling, scratchies, and once a packet of potato chips has been opened, there’s no stopping me.

The start of a new blog…

August Empress was a dream of mine to create since I began freelancing fulltime. After taking the time to grow my business and see it flourish, I wanted to focus attention on working on my own creative outlet and projects.

Much of my design work fuses patterns, textures and wonderful creative things which is what I love to do. This blog is a way for me to bring those things to my readers, to inspire them, motivate them, and also to provide resources to help their creative endevours or businesses.
