A room without books is like a body without a soul. ~ Cicero

Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about how to turn one of the walls in our living area into a full wall of books. Should I line up a few cheap ikea bookcases, install rows of shelves from the floor to ceiling, or custom build our own design.

One thing is for sure, I have a long way to go in building up a collection large enough to grace this big wall. A loooong way to go.

These are some books I currently have in my pile to read.

  1. Growing up I was always surrounded by books because my mom was a writer, but they were just strewn in bookcases in each room/everywhere. I never thought a whole wall of bookshelves could be so striking! Thanks for the inspiration!

  2. I’d love a wall of books, too, or maybe a nice reading nook that’s separated from the rest of the living room by a dividing tall/wide bookshelf like Katrina’s (of Pugly Pixel): http://www.flickr.com/photos/puglyfeet/2450645021/

  3. These are all so lovely – I think the top one is my favourite, I love the splashes of green.

Have a look at the third photo on this page – could be a possible solution! http://theselby.com/7_7_11_AbigailAhern/

Donaville, that is a great reading nook! I love bookcases used to separate areas too!

    Angie, that wallpaper is awesome!

  5. Lovely library ideas! I wanna set up a book corner in my room too! :)

  6. Oh wow, totally drooling over all of those bookshelves! My bookshelf has since been overrun with movies, leaving my neglected books packed away in a storage bin. :(

  7. I love the first one :)

  8. I LOVE books and have a pinterest board dedicated to dramatic bookshelves! My to-read list is similar to yours – I currently have Open City on the go ….as well as about 6 another books…I clearly can’t commit to just one at a time ;)

I love all my books. I can not imagine using a computer device to read, I would truly miss the “feel” of the book in my hands.

I started a library a while ago. I found old book cases at flea markets ( one I must confess I found on the side of the road), all beaten up. I cleaned them and left as is.

My library is a timeless collage of old shelves filled with all my books. when I walk in, the memories of all I have read come flooding back.

By far my favorite place to be in my home
