Salzburg, Austria
In my previous post we were ready to go and explore Salzburg, luckily the rain held out for the day and we were able to walk around the old castle and nearby streets and sites. We also travelled up Untersburg mountain where the temperature quickly dropped to -5ºC and it was fantastic to see everything covered in snow and all white fog surrounding us. As it’s been almost 20 years since I’ve been in any snow I loved it.

After a slightly terrifying drive through the alps in the rain on a small winding road up and down steep mountains, we finally arrived to warm weather in an Italian town called Peschiera del Garda. It’s situated at the bottom of Lake Garda not far from Verona, and the view was beautiful with a backdrop of mountains on the other side of the lake.

After a short visit we drove further south to Levanto, a town just next to Cinque Terre. We spent today exploring all five of the towns that make up this area, it was amazing and we are completely exhausted tonight and having some well earned rest after so much walking. I couldn’t stop staring at the water, it’s the loveliest colour.

Since arriving in Italy I have been thoroughly enjoying eating pasta and gelato, and drinking wine. Tomorrow we will be heading to France along the coast, I will check in again soon with more photos!

Jo, your photos are fantastic. (you should sell them as prints *hint hint*). Glad to hear you made it safely through the alps. I’ve driven through some crazy hills/slopes so I can only imagine what it must have been like.
UNBELIEVABLE!!!
Are these iphone photos? I love them. I think my favourite camera when travelling is the iphone…. screw the medium format film camera! ;-)
I love the pictures too! The ones from Cinque Terre brought me back to the time I got to escape to this wonderful string of cities. They have an amazing coast line and such a fantastic old world beach city feel. If you don’t mind, would you tell us which camera you were using and the settings? I’d love to take pictures like this on my next trip! Thanks again and enjoy yourself!
Cinque Terre is my favorite place in the word! Your photos really make me want to go back soon!
